Hey, glad you're here. I'm Niklas, 27, and I grew up in Wesel in western Germany. If you'd asked me six years ago where I'd be in 2026, I probably would've said 'bank, on the leadership track, maybe a degree on the side.' Today I work location-independently, plan the next stages of my journey and support my clients along the way. Wild how it sometimes goes.

Canada 2018 was where it started: a few months after high school, alone on the other side of the world, where I got to explore my favourite city Vancouver for three months while attending a language school and having the best time of my life.

Back in Germany I still started the banking apprenticeship. Finished in 2022, got hired full-time. 'Everything according to plan.' Except the plan kept feeling less and less like mine.

'A degree next? More training? Or something completely different?' I carried those questions for a year. That was the ugly phase of change. Looking back though, exactly what I needed, and seeing what came out of it, the chaos, the discontent and the lack of a plan were absolutely worth it. At some point the world-travel idea showed up. First as fantasy, then as an idea, then as a real plan. Autumn 2023 the decision was made: 'If not now, when?' September 2024 I flew out with a one-way ticket.

Since then that intention has turned into almost 2 years of lived reality: Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, China, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Australia, Iceland and ten more countries. On Instagram and TikTok I share as @reise.hub what actually happens on the road and in this new chapter of my life. On the 'Freedom FM.' podcast I've spent 120+ episodes sharing what I've learned, passing on the knowledge and hosting deep interviews with fascinating guests.

Alongside, I've become a freelancer. Started out wanting to counter a travel budget getting slimmer by the month, by now it's much more a passion and my chance to support exciting companies, projects and people with my skills.
