If there's one topic I love talking about or passing on, on my social media channels or often on my podcast, it's this: »Follow your dreams and follow your passion.«

So when I was thinking about which blog article to write next, it only made sense to bring this topic in. Because by now I have a slightly more grown-up view on it.

I'm still deeply convinced that everyone should follow their passion and dreams. When we're small, we all have big goals and wishes. And at some point, as we grow up, they get buried, trained out of us or forgotten. For me, that was the moment the idea of a world trip came up. I wanted to see something of the world, I was unhappy in my job. I had this big longing for freedom and personal growth, and I didn't listen to common sense to take the safe path. I took the leap instead. Into uncertainty, but towards my dreams of the big trip.

It doesn't have to mean giving up security. For many people, security is with high probability an important factor and the right path. But if you notice for yourself that it's not your path, you should recognise that as fast as possible, accept it, and figure out what the right one actually is.

There's a quote I've been carrying with me for a long time, I heard it a few years ago and it goes like this: there are only two people in your life you have to make happy. Not your parents, not your teacher, not your relatives or friends, but your 8-year-old self and your 80-year-old self. If both of those are happy and proud of what you do or have done, you're on the right path. Use that as a compass, and remember: our time on this planet is limited. You and I could both be gone tomorrow (hopefully I'm wrong). But shouldn't we make the most of this gift called life? Dream big, follow your heart, and as long as you're not hurting anyone, do whatever you want. Make the most of the time you've been given.
